Cerrin Lathrop born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona began her dance journey from a petite age of two years old, since her father was a dance teacher at and mom best friend to the owner of Dance Connection AZ. Growing up in the competition/convention world, she trained heavily in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Tumbling.
In 2003, as her time in secondary education was coming to a close, Cerrin decided to attend Arizona State University. In 2007, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Studies with honors. While at ASU she received multiple scholarships and awards including Outstanding Dance Studies Student Award 2007 and Arizona's Best Choreography Award 2006. She also had the honor of receiving training from some of the leading modern dance educators and choreographers like Karen Schupp, Mary Fitzgerald, Jennifer Tsukayama, Liz Lerman, David Dorfman and Ronald K. Brown.
Since graduating, she dove deep into dance education and pedagogy development. She's taught, choreographed, artistic directed and implemented programs in Arizona, Oregon, California, North Dakota, North Carolina, Colorado and Japan. Some of her most notable accomplishments are presenting at AZDEO on introducing non-dancers to dance, co-founding SubRosa Dance Collective in Portland, Oregon, Artistic Director of Off Center Dance Company Jr. in Mesa, Arizona, Co-Artistic Director of the Studio X Competition Team in Minot, North Dakota, establishing international dance programs in Japan, and receiving choreography awards every year along the way either from dance competitions, dance film festivals or dance education organizations.
Since moving to Colorado in 2020, her primary educational goals are, integrating anatomy and strength training into the classroom, familiarizing competition based dance programs with modern dance and creating intelligent dancer artists that can take their knowledge and insight into whatever career field they decide to pursue.
